THREE KNOBBE MARTENS PARTNERS NAMED SAN DIEGO SUPER LAWYERS

Ned Israelsen, Fred Berretta and John Carson, partners with Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear’s San Diego office, the top-ranked intellectual property law firm in the West, were named San Diego Super Lawyers based on a recent survey of their peers.

Each attorney will be included in the San Diego edition of Southern California Super Lawyers, which features the top 5% of attorneys in San Diego County. The Super Lawyers selection process includes peer nominations, a blue ribbon panel review and additional independent research of the candidate. The attorney’s names also appeared in a supplement of the May 20, 2007 issue of both the New York Times and the San Diego Union Tribune.

Managing partner of the firm’s San Diego office, Ned Israelsen, focuses his practice primarily on advising startup companies and established businesses in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical areas, including worldwide patent protection strategies, avoidance of third party intellectual property, portfolio building, due diligence, intellectual property opinions, and licensing. His clients include venture-financed startup companies, newly-public companies, major biopharmaceutical companies, not-for-profit institutions and educational institutions, and governmental research organizations.

Fred Berretta, litigation partner at Knobbe Martens since 1998, focuses his practice on all aspects of intellectual property litigation, including representing plaintiffs and defendants in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secrets disputes in both federal and state courts. He primarily handles patent infringement cases in many different technology areas, including electronics and communications, software, biotechnology, chemicals, semiconductors, and mechanical devices.

John Carson’s practice involves representation of clients in the computer software, image processing, Internet, personal computer, telecommunications and semiconductor industries.  His practice is international in scope with an emphasis on European and Eastern Asian patent protection.  Carson’s clients range from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses, and also include small capitalization, publicly traded companies, as well as emerging and venture capital financed companies.
