ANNEMARIE KAISER OF KNOBBE MARTENS OLSON & BEAR NOMINATED FOR UCSD ATHENA PINNACLE AWARD

AnneMarie Kaiser, a partner of San Diego's oldest and largest Intellectual Property law firm, Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear, has been nominated for UCSD's Athena Pinnacle Awards for her outstanding contributions to San Diego's technology sector. Kaiser has been recognized in the Individual in Services category for displaying strong leadership through active participation within the San Diego-based business community, thus promoting women in the workplace and playing a key role in firm development.

The annual Pinnacle Awards are awarded to leaders that foster Athena's vision of personal and professional growth. The awards are based on peer nominations, and each year, three individuals are awarded for their accomplishments in the following categories: Individual in Technology, Individual in Services and Individual in Education. A Pinnacle Award is also presented to an organization as a whole for its achievements.

"I am honored to be nominated for such a prestigious award," said Kaiser. "The Athena Pinnacle Awards make a strong statement about the important contributions women make in the high-tech and life-sciences industries, especially here in San Diego."

Kaiser started her work in the biotech industry as a licensed medical technologist at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla, before joining Hybritech, Inc. as a senior research associate in 1989. After receiving her law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 1992, Kaiser joined Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear as an associate, and became a partner five years later. Kaiser currently represents clients seeking intellectual property protection in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device industries.

Kaiser currently serves as member of UCSD Athena's Board of Directors as well as on the Sponsorship/Membership and Annual Survey Committees. She is also a member of the International Trademark Association, San Diego County Intellectual Property Association and the San Diego County Bar Association.

The recipients of the Pinnacle Awards will be announced at the Awards luncheon, which is set to take place on April 28, 2005 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in downtown San Diego.
