Professional Profile

Daniel Hart is a partner in our San Diego office.  Dr. Hart's practice focuses on biotechnology and, in particular, intellectual property issues relating to large-scale gene discovery, target validation, screening assays, genomics, and microarrays. In addition, his practice includes intellectual property in the chemical and mechanical arts.

Dr. Hart was born in Pennsylvania in 1962. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1984 with a B.S. in Microbiology. Dr Hart received his Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from Washington University in St. Louis in 1992 for his work on transcription factors which direct expression from the avian myeloblastosis virus long terminal repeats. His experiments involved cloning genes encoding transcription factors, in vitro translation, in vivo and in vitro footprinting and retroviral vectors.

Dr. Hart received his J.D. in 1995 from New York University. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1995 and was registered before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 1996. Dr. Hart is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.

Dr. Hart joined the firm in 1995 and became a partner in 2000.
