Rose M. Thiessen is a partner in our San Diego office.  She specializes in patent prosecution and licensing for chemical, pharmaceutical, and medical device technologies.

Dr. Thiessen’s practice includes patent portfolio management and filing strategies in the U.S. and internationally, client counseling on issues relating to licensing, infringement, and trade secrets, and intellectual property due diligence studies relating to acquisition of patents and other intellectual property. 

Dr. Thiessen currently represents clients in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmetics industries as well as the medical device field, with an emphasis on both in vivo and ex vivo glucose monitoring technologies.  She also represents clients in a wide range of technologies including desalination, petroleum refining and petrochemical processing, nanoparticle fabrication, semipermeable membrane technology, and semiconductor manufacturing.  

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Thiessen worked as a chemist at Exxon Research and Engineering Company in New Jersey, where she held positions as a chemist in fuels technology and as an information scientist specializing in chemical patent information.

Dr. Thiessen joined the firm in 1999 and became a partner in 2005.
