Mallary K. de Merlier is a partner in our San Diego office.  Her practice is focused on patent protection for biotechnological inventions and medical devices.

Ms. de Merlier is a registered patent attorney and specializes in representing clients in a variety of intellectual property matters including patent prosecution, general counseling on strategic patent procurement in the U.S. and abroad, and intellectual property due diligence studies. She has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in a variety of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, medical devices such as infusers and catheter assemblies, and biotechnology.

Prior to entering the practice of law, Ms. de Merlier performed research at Montana State University directed to the use of biological organisms to control weeds. While working as a research assistant and laboratory supervisor, she continued her post-baccalaureate studies in microbiology.

During law school, Ms. de Merlier was an oral advocacy specialist for the legal research and writing course. Ms. de Merlier was a summer associate with a civil litigation firm in Bozeman, Montana and in 1999, she interned with the U.S. Attorneys Office, Civil Division in San Diego.

Ms. de Merlier joined the firm in 1999 and became a partner in 2005.
