Anderson is partner in our San Diego office. He specializes in patents and other forms of intellectual property protection, primarily for biotech and chemistry-related technologies. Mr. Anderson’s practice includes patent procurement, freedom-to-operate opinions, intellectual property litigation, and general counseling on infringement and licensing issues. He represents a number of clients in biotechnology and the chemical arts, with particular emphasis on pharmaceuticals, molecular biology, and electrochemistry. Prior to joining the firm, from 1996 to 1998, Mr. Anderson was a research chemist for the National Cancer Institute. Working in the Chemical Synthesis and Analysis Laboratory, he isolated experimental anti-tumor agents and performed analytical techniques including HPLC, TLC, NMR, FT-IR, UV, and mass spectra analysis. Mr. Anderson joined the firm in 2001 and became a partner in 2008. Represented defendants in coordinated patent litigation regarding fexofenadine (active ingredient in Aventis’ Allegra® antihistimine product). Obtained, and successfully sustained on appeal, denial of preliminary injunction. Roche Palo Alto LLC v. Ranbaxy Labs. Ltd., (D.N.J. 2006- ). Pharmaceuticals. Representing defendant in patent litigation regarding valganciclovir (active ingredient in Roche’s Valcyte® anti-viral product).
