I was drawn to Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP because of its reputation
as a leading IP firm and its unique philosophy. The firms emphasis
on cooperation among its lawyers instead of competition appealed to me,
as did its encouragement of lawyers to pursue outside interests and maintain
a healthy family life. The stability of Knobbe Martens was also an important
factor. At a time when other IP firms were dissolving or merging into
general practice firms, Knobbe Martens remained solid. The firm also has
a vibrant training and continuing education program that encourages its
lawyers to remain at the top of their field.
Working at the firm has been a great experience. The variety of work
was exactly what I was looking for. I have been able to work on a variety
of litigation, patent prosecution, and client counseling projects. The
early client contact opportunities have been very satisfying. Working
in San Diego has been especially enjoyable. The San Diego area is full
of biotech and pharmaceutical research companies and I have been able
to help a number of companies get off the ground.
