| Knobbe Martens encourages its attorneys to contribute to the community by participating in pro bono activities, educational seminars, bar associations, and other professional, community, and nonprofit organizations. Knobbe Martens is committed to providing pro bono legal counsel to indigent individuals and nonprofit organizations through its Pro Bono Program. To promote and facilitate the Pro Bono Program, the Firm has a Pro Bono Committee that includes partners, associates, and a Pro Bono staff coordinator. Attorneys at Knobbe Martens have represented Pro Bono clients in obtaining valuable patents, trademarks, and copyrights. The Firm has also successfully litigated a variety of cases, including intellectual property matters, on a pro bono basis. Working Wardrobes, a nonprofit organization offering professional wardrobing and career development services to crisis survivors, recently honored Knobbe Martens as an Outstanding Corporate Partner for its pro bono services, including the successful registration and enforcement of the organization’s trademark rights. As part of its Pro Bono Program, Knobbe Martens recently partnered with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office in the Trial Attorney Partnership Program (TAP). The TAP Program provides junior attorneys with the opportunity to prosecute crimes on a volunteer basis. The Firm’s TAP attorneys work full time as Deputy District Attorneys for eight weeks and are responsible for all misdemeanor and juvenile deputy duties, including case filings, pretrial conferences, motions, hearings, and jury trials. By participating in the TAP Program, as well as other pro bono activities, the attorneys at Knobbe Martens not only gain significant professional experience, but also contribute meaningfully to the local and legal communities. For more information on the Knobbe Martens Pro Bono Program, please contact Salima A. Merani, Ph.D, a partner in our Orange County Office and a member of the Pro Bono Committee, at smerani@kmob.com. |
