Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear associates enjoy working directly with acknowledged leaders in every practice area within the field of IP law. The firm has over 200 lawyers, most of whom have Ph.D.’s, M.D.’s, or other advanced degrees in the sciences or engineering. All of these highly educated lawyers work one-on-one with associates at every level. Associates have the unique opportunity to learn from people who are not only excellent lawyers, but also highly qualified in their respective technical or scientific discipline.

During their first few months at the firm, associates undergo a comprehensive training program in each of the firm’s practice areas, as well as on topics such as client service and practice development. These training sessions span more than 20 topics over two weeks. New associates are encouraged to gain exposure, in practice as well as in training sessions, to all areas of the firm’s practice. Unlike other firms, associates and partners at all levels are not limited to any single practice area.

Associates receive annual performance evaluations and an annual salary review. Knobbe Martens promotes continuing legal education throughout each lawyer’s career and lawyers at the firm earn MCLE credit at the firm's weekly in-house educational lunches, monthly practice group meetings, and other educational opportunities. In addition, the firm provides financial support for associates to participate in seminars and educational programs outside the firm throughout their careers.
