The Harvard Business School Association of Orange County (HBSAOC) and Los Angeles Venture Association (LAVA) join forces to help middle market executives survive and thrive in challenging economic times. The two organizations are teaming up to provide valuable real-world content, access to capital, and a chance to connect with both groups.

Who should attend?
The conference is for anybody and everybody who is involved with growing businesses. Those who should attend include owners and managers of growth businesses, executives of middle market companies, private investors, providers of capital to growth businesses (including private equity, venture capital, and debt capital) and consultants or service providers to growing businesses.

Although this is a middle market conference, early stage entrepreneurs and angel investors are more than welcome to attend.

Licensing Executives Society (LES) International
Graduate Student Business Plan Competition
May 6 - 8, 2009
LES Spring Meeting - Montreal, Canada

The LES Foundation in cooperation with The Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada), Inc., and The Licensing Executives Society International (LESI) invite MS/MBA/JD/PhD students from around the world to participate in the 2009 LES Foundation Graduate School Business Plan Competition.

To participate, entrants must submit a comprehensive business plan with a core intellectual property (IP) licensing component. Entries will be judged on a variety of factors including attractiveness of the venture, quality of the product/service offered, market opportunity, and investment potential. Five finalist teams will receive all-expense paid trips to compete in Montreal and attend the 2009 LES Spring Meeting, where teams will present their plans and have the opportunity to network with licensing professionals representing all aspects of the industry. The winning team will be announced during the meeting and will receive $10,000 and valuable in-kind prizes. Each runner-up team will win $1,000. Finalist teams will also compete for LESI's $5,000 Global Award.

Key Deadlines:

  • March 4, 2009 - All submissions/business plans due
  • April 8, 2009 - Finalist teams invited to attend the LES Spring Meeting in Montreal
  • May 5, 2009 - Final round competition in Montreal
  • May 6 - 8, 2009 - LES Spring Meeting in Montreal
